We all love the beautiful girls of anime. We look forward each week to each episode they star in.
She may be sweet or foul tempered, peaceful or violent, cowardly or courageous as she pushes through the trials in her animated life; she captures our heart nonetheless. Every fan has their absolute favorite characters, which they just can’t seem to let go of when the series ends. These dream girls have made their place into the hearts of fans worldwide.
Let’s meet a few of the best!
15. Sena Kashiwazaki from Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai
The wealthy blonde daughter of the school’s headteacher, Sena shows a dislike of all things “ordinary.” She is both attractive and academically successful, but her resulting arrogance leads her to be disliked by her female peers. Their admiration eludes her, much as she desires it; she treats her male classmates only as servants to be used, although many of them would like to be her boyfriend.
She is the girl you want to pal around with, but we wouldn’t call her a tomboy. She is very feminine and still likes to have the same fun as you do, just wearing a skirt.. She accepts she’s smart, she’s quiet, and that boys like her — but she doesn’t flaunt it. She isn’t needy, either. We need that kind of girl once in a while, one that would like nothing more than to spend time with you in the same room, while you do your separate things.
14. Asuka Langley Souryuu from Neon Genesis Evangelion
Asuka is a very proud individual, especially in her piloting, and comes across to others as proud and strong, with a very high opinion of both her appearance and her skill as an Eva pilot. She is stubborn and finds it difficult to express her true feelings to others. She does not like being looked down upon or told what to do as she wants to be viewed as an adult. She is aggressive and can be very opinionated.
Asuka has red hair and blue eyes. She dresses up in a signature school uniform that includes a blue dress, white socks and a pair of black shoes. Asuka’s hair is loose with the flanks held in twin tails with her Interface Headset. As the “Second Child” in the lineup of Evangelion pilots, we have yet another beautiful redhead who packs a punch. Whether it be for her tsundere nature or her delicate core, fans worldwide just can’t get enough of Asuka.
13. Rumia Tingel from Rokudenashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records
Rumia is shown to be simple minded, Wise and very caring towards her friends, especially Sistine. During The magic competition, another competitor tries to push Rumia into quitting; however, she confidently stands her ground, showing she won’t back down easily.
Rumia has bright sun blonde hair that is styled in a bob hairstyle. She has ocean-blue eyes and wears a pretty green bow. She also wears a blue clip-on that adds to her outfit. She has an arm-like stretcher that wraps around her right arm.
She is on this list because we all need a Rumia in our lives. We need someone who will cheer us on, support us and share our burdens.
We need someone who is willing share in our grief when it comes, as she did with her friend. Rumia is a Waifu for more than her good looks; she’s definitely the kind of girl who will have your back as a friend or a lover. When you meet a girl who can take all of your baggage and still smile you know you’ve found your Waifu.
12. Haruhi Suzumiya from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu
Haruhi is a bright, energetic and athletic high-school student. She alternates between melancholy and incredible optimism, often unpredictably. Haruhi is indeed stubborn and doesn’t like to admit her mistakes, usually blaming other people. Also, she gets angry very easily, being an egotistical, irascible and impulsive person.
Haruhi has a pale skin tone, big brown eyes and brown hair. At the beginning of the series her hair is long and reaches to about her waist. She always had different hairstyles every day. She is good at cooking because her mother having “awful taste” and always measuring ingredients and spices by the eye causing every meal she makes to “never taste quite the same each time”; So in primary school Haruhi attempted to cook on her own and found that she had somewhat of a natural talent for it and insisted on cooking her own meals ever since.
She is definitely the kind of girl you marry and you don’t mind being poor living in a tiny apartment eating ramen half the time because she is simply your best friend. We also love her because she makes anime and we love watching anime it’s a match made in heaven. She also loves donuts, so much so, her and her friends created a ritual toast each time they share them.
11. Umaru Doma from Himouto! Umaru-chan
She is described as the perfect teenage girl at school and around town. She is a student who is on top of her class (due to her outstanding grades), possesses an overall charismatic feel, kind-hearted, excels in everything she does, and despite her popularity, she remains humble, thus earning the admiration by her fellow classmates and faculty alike.
She also portrays a very sweet and cute personality. Her voice is also calm, more feminine, and very refined.
When she is at home with her older brother, she dons a hood and acts as a lazy shut-in who loves playing video games, eating junk food, looking at manga/anime, and buying stuff online. Umaru’s attitude is 100% waifu material and it’s so funny. She can get her unfortunate brother to do whatever she wants and lives life to the fullest. So her personalities and every aspect of her make her perfect and a top notch waifu.
10. Hinata Hyuuga from Naruto and Naruto Shippuuden
Hinata is soft-spoken and polite, always addressing people with proper honourifics. She is kind, always thinking of others’ more than for herself, and always caring about others feelings and well-being. She doesn’t like to be confrontational for any reason; she doesn’t even like being confrontational about her dislike of confrontation.
It is for this reason that Hinata so often comes off as meek or timid to others, as her overwhelming kindness can render her unable to respond or act for fear of offending somebody.
Hinata, the dandere queen of the Naruto series, has proven from time to time again that she is willing to do just about anything to protect the one she loves. And isn’t that what marriage is all about?
9. Kallen Stadtfeld/Kouzuki from Code Geass
Kallen is a strong-willed, determinated, loyal and brave individual who also can be quite short-tempered, forceful and somewhat impulsive. Despite her tough attitude, Kallen is actually quite sensitive, compassive and truly gentle, however after the death of her brother she doesn’t show this side much any more.
As Zero’s metaphorical queen on the chessboard of rebellion, the very curvaceous and fiery Kallen renounces her Britannian surname and pledges allegiance to the masked terrorist and the Black Knights. This waifu will pledge an absolutely divine allegiance to those she cares for, which is probably what makes her such a popular waifu.
8. Eiri Spencer Sawamura from How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend
Eriri plays the role of a model and refined young lady at school. When nobody is around, she reverts into a hardcore otaku just like Tomoya. Because of her refined manner, she is respected and fawned over by other students at the school. Almost none of them know about her otaku side, though.
She is beautiful, with pale skin, blue eyes and blonde twin tails tied up with blue ribbon. She is the girl you want to hang out with and play video games with, discuss anime and manga with she is an otaku’s dream right down to her tsundere attitude.
The standoffish and hot tempered attitude is just a front in many ways, because we know at heart Eiri is a maiden waiting to be swept off her feet by a grand gesture on a balcony in front of a firework filled sky.
7. Konata Izumi from Lucky Star
She is mischievous and sarcastic, but good-natured. She refers to herself as a prankster, and finds great enjoyment in teasing her friends. Konata is a huge procrastinator who avoids studying, thus her grades are uneasy.
Konata will love you just the way you are. Because, well, she is just the way you are. This chibi cutie is the epitome of an otaku – she loves video games, anime, manga, and pretty much everything else that the typical male otaku does. What’s better than a waifu? A waifu that will lend you her anime collection, of course.
6. Asuna from Sword Art Online
Asuna originally did not care about dying in the game before meeting Kirito. That meeting drastically changed Asuna’s personality and outlook on life. She soon takes most things Kirito says to heart and looks to him for help, using him as somewhat of a lifeline.
Asuna is a kind and helpful young woman who, similar to Kirito, cannot abandon another in trouble.
She takes the game very seriously and is determined to clear it before Kirito tells her to enjoy SAO a bit. Asuna is also somewhat proud and despite her kind personality, she will not hesitate to get physical with those that challenge her authority or make fun of her abilities, such as cooking. What would a waifu be without a little “spice” every once in a while?
5. Chitoge Kirisaki from Nisekoi
Chitoge is a cute high school girl of half English, half Japanese descent. She has long blonde hair and is just over five feet tall. Chitoge is most often seen in her blue and white school uniform that she accents with a loose-fitting yellow neck tie. She has two amazing features, her deep blue eyes and a bright red ribbon she wears in her hair that tends to stick up like a pair of rabbit ears, giving her an amazingly adorable look.
She is a classic tsundere character who’s prone to sometimes violent outbursts and has poor social skills. The poor social skills come from her lack of having friends growing up. She often found it difficult to make friends as a child as many kids steered clear of the kid whose family ran the mob.
Her loneliness leads to some very cute moments of insecurity as she decides how to handle it when someone is nice to her. We all want that in a girl, don’t we? We want someone who will cherish our friendship and who would know how important that bond is.
4. Momo Belia Deviluke from Motto To-LOVE-Ru
The pink-haired princess from another planet is a student who attends Sainan High School with her sisters. Like others from her planet, she’s very strong for her size. Momo also has an amazing ability to talk to and understand plants. She is incredibly smart, nearly as smart as her certified genius older sister Lala.
Momo is an amazing actress. She managed, while body-swapped in her sister Nana’s body, to convince Rito — a guy Nana only tolerates — that she (Nana) was madly in love with him. The majority of the characters in To Loveru would call Momo sweet and innocent. We know better. She is highly perverted and loves and lusts after Rito, a human.
She often sneaks into Rito’s room while wearing almost nothing so she can wake up next to him. In some ways she has a split personality. She tends to shift to a far more violent version of herself when there is a battle and takes an almost sadistic pleasure in the pain and gore. We love the lengths this girl is willing to go to keep Rito’s love, and that is why she’s worthy of the love you only give a Waifu.
3. Aoi Miyamori from Shirobako
Aoi is simply the girl next door, who happens to love anime as much as we do, so we know this is fiction. She is a lot like most of us when we finished school, she has a vague goal in mind but not too sure how to accomplish it. Aoi just knows she wants to make anime. So, she gets a job at Musashino Animation as an assistant at the production desk.
We see she is a hard worker, organized and very courteous to those works with and for. She is a model employee. She has a cheerful personality and has one of those personalities that stays positive and upbeat no matter what kind of crazy stress is thrown at her while at work.
Aoi is filled with passion for her work. She always willing to put in the long hours come crunch time to make sure everyone succeeds. We know that it’s a girl like that that who will put the work into a relationship. Aoi also has an active imagination, often sifting through problems using mental surrogates, a gothic Lolita doll and a stuffed bear.
She is definitely the kind of girl you marry and you don’t mind being poor living in a tiny apartment eating ramen half the time because she is simply your best friend.
2. Kurisu Makise from Steins;Gate
Kurisu shows a sensible and mature attitude, usually calm and collected even when someone is acting tense in front of her. However, she can also show a much more timid side at times. She has been described as a tsundere by Rintarou Okabe and Itaru Hashida time and time again, though she is shown to be annoyed whenever someone calls her that.
Kurisu is also practical and a realist, almost to a fault; initially, she believes firmly that time machines are fiction and refuses to believe the Phonewave is one even after seeing it in action, claiming that Okabe had simply seen what he wanted to see.
Kurisu is the ultimate waifu for me, she’s extremely smart, beautiful, confident, independent, adorable, and inspiring. She has a great personality and she’s as close to perfect as I have ever seen in an anime character. She was well developed throughout and grew so much as a character within a short period of time while still maintaining her same charm.
With both brains and beauty, Kurisu doesn’t make things easy for the man who becomes her intellectual “match made in heaven”, Okabe Rintarou, a.k.a. “Hououin Kyouma”. But what fun would life with your beautiful waifu be if it was easy?
1. Hiyori Iki from Noragami
Hiyori Iki is the daughter of a well-off family and a bit of a tomboy. Her tomboy qualities were previously confined to her love of martial arts and wrestling, until meeting the Stray God Yato. Her involvement in the world of gods and goddess and their battle against phantoms that prey on men has made her, shall we say, more active in less ladylike pursuits.
Hiyori is a tall, thin girl with long black hair and eyes that match the lavender color of her school uniform. She also has a purple tail that appears when she is in her spirit form. It’s a rather adorable accessory representative of her soul’s tether to the world of the living.
When she first gets dislodged from her mortal body and realizes that there are bad things out there in the world harming people, she jumps right into combat imagining herself some sort of hero of justice. She is also kind to friends and strangers alike. She has a cheery personality that helps people feel at ease even if the world around them is scary.
She also is a devoted friend. She spends a lot of her time tutoring Yukine, a boy who died young and now lives as a regalia, spirit weapon, for the Yato. She teaches Yukine regardless of the fact that he can’t go to school and have a normal life. Hiyori makes this Waifu list for one main reason; she has the patience of a god. When you meet a girl who can take all of your baggage and still smile you know you’ve found your Waifu.
The world of anime makes that very difficult with an ever changing line up of ladies that make our heart flutter. We choose a Waifu because we recognize that the character isn’t just a shallow two dimensional image, it has personality far beyond what the author intended.
The Waifu tend to easily exceed the role that it was place in by the story and transcends it by inspiring us to imagine what they would be like in our world. This list isn’t final by any means since my waifus switch around a lot; this is just my opinion at this moment.
Is your Waifu on this list?
I’m a 22 year old Anime blogger, currently studying for my masters in finance and control. To be honest, I have absolutely no desires to become a taxman. I am just an ordinary guy with everything to lose!
