Craving the taste of summer? Seeing some nice beach bods? Wanting to break that watermelon with your totally existent “friends”? Why do that when you can do it all in the comfort of your own home. And no sunburns!
So sit down, relax, and enjoy the great indoors as you escape from your reality and into your own isekai. By watching more anime. Here’s a compiled list of the best (obligatory) beach scenes to satiate all those needs in an episode or two:
10. Summer Illusion of Steel
Sexy Kaname Chidori shows off her sexy beach bod when the lot takes a day off at the seaside. There’s the typical fun game of watermelon splitting, a quarrel between the two main protagonists, and a comedic plot twist at the end.
In Episode 3, Kaname not only loses her cool towards the insensitive Sousuke, but manages to entangle herself in a “kidnapping” situation.
9. The Sun, the Sea, and the Host Club!
In this episode of Ouran High School Host Club, Haruhi and the Host Club go to a private beach while on vacation. You encounter conflict, personal confrontations, and more reasons to love the remaining cast.
Episode 8 just has it all! Funny, serious, steamy, and wholesome. From character development to multiple subplots, this episode nails it past your typical filler beach episode.
8. Beauty and the Beach
This banned episode of Pokémon aired early on into the series in the first season of the Kanto region. And it had heads turning the moment you see James flaunting the nicest rack you’ve ever laid eyes on.
Fortunately for those who got a glimpse of it back in 2000, Episode 18 was dubbed and aired in the United States twice just before permanently banning it altogether.
7. Training Camp!
You’re gonna wish that every beach you go to was as beautiful, and solemnly private, as the beachside villa Tsumugi Kotobuki owns. The band – Ho-Kago Tea Time (After School Tea Time) – takes on their training here for the upcoming school festival.
The four bandmates in Episode 4 have their fun at the beach, and eventually begin practicing to strive to become better than the previous Light Music Club.
6. Yoko, Will You Do Me A Favor?
Yoko Littner is Gurren Lagann’s ultimate fanservice mascot. As the busty babe of the series, you would expect to see more of her in a sexy and daring swimsuit. But what do we get?
The show stealer of Episode 12 instead – Nia Teppelin. She becomes the cutie that all the guys fawn over after a letdown of Yoko’s expectations.
5. Summer Staples! (The Fanservice Episode, Frankly)
Okay, they even mention it in the episode’s title for you! So you should expect Quetzalcoatl to draw most of the attention if not Kanna being the most loved and adorable loli of all time.
The first half of Episode 7 of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is pure entertainment. It has your melon splitting fun, the beach bods tease, and the water ride on Tohru’s back in dragon-form across the ocean.
4. A Hot Summer! Aho Girl!
Unconventional way of cracking open a watermelon, a beautiful swimsuit design for the Chairwoman, and the plan for the Chairwoman to get closer to Akuru Akutsu gone awry. What more comedy do you need?
Aho-Girl’s Episode 6 delivers not only fanservice, but the best and funniest “lewd” scenes you don’t get to see in traditional beach episodes.
3. At the Beach
Traditional school swimsuit, check. Cute and adorable swimsuit, check. Sexy and daring swimsuit, check. Beach episode with all the waifus of the show, CHECK!
Enjoy Episode 18 in a fun, relaxing, and hilarious manner with all the waifus of the show trying to compete for Raku Ichijo’s attention. Most notably, the daring Marika Tachibana going topless!
2. Hair Stand
Even horror anime requires a beach episode! And it’s not a filler by any means at all. The star of the show will always be there – the watermelon.
In this unconventional beach Episode 8 of Another, expect a more morbid and gruesome scene than what your typical beach episode would contain. You simply can’t escape death in this series.
1. Shooting Star Moratorium
The simplicity and innocence of the series hits you like a train on fire. You explore the old world and the sea all at once. In addition, the episode gives a “kiss” the same, yet somewhat different meaning to what we’re all used to – almost exclusive and actually much more special.
Episode 7 will have you questioning why all the short-haired waifus have been neglected by the main protagonist almost every time. But let’s be real now, Zero Two definitely takes the cake!
Free! – Episode 5 (Trial in Open Water!) and Episode 6 (Shocking No Breathing!)
Kaichou wa Maid-sama! – Episode 16 (Maid Latte at the Beach House) and Episode 17 (Usui Becomes the Enemy)
D.N.Angel – Episode 18 (The Two Under The Shooting Stars)
Not every beach episode is filler. Unless it’s an on-going series to this day. But there are very wholesome ones that aren’t always just fanservice. Almost every anime has them, so tell us which ones are your favorites!
