Requiem of the Rose King Promo Video Shares More Cast and Staff

The dark fantasy manga that adapts one of Shakespeare’s works has unveiled a promo video announcing cast, staff, and premiere date.

The official website for Requiem of the Rose King (Bara-Ō no Sōretsu) manga unveiled a new visual and promotional video for the television anime adaptation of the manga.

JANUARY PREMIERE

The anime adapts Aya Kanno’s manga that is based on Shakespeare’s Richard III.

Requiem of the Rose King was initially scheduled to premiere this fall, but the production committee announced a delay earlier this year in July. It has now been announced that while the anime will premiere in January, it will air for two consecutive cours for a half-year continuous run.

Richard’s father, the patriarch of the House of York, is poised to become king of medieval England during the bloody Wars of the Roses. But just as success is imminent, he is abruptly cut down. Plunged into despair, Richard acts out in revenge and must face a powerful and beautiful new enemy.

The announced cast consists of

  • Mitsuki Saiga as Richard
  • Hikaru Midorikawa as Henry
  • Sho Hayami as Richard, Duke of York
  • Kousuke Toriumi as Edward
  • Yasuaki Takumi as George
  • Satoshi Mikami as the Earl of Warwick
  • Satoshi Hino as William Catesby
  • Sayaka Ohara as Queen Margaret
  • Kōhei Amasaki as Edward of Westminster

Yoshitada Otsuka will narrate the anime.

The production committee for the anime includes Kentarō Suzuki (Angels of Death) who is directing the anime at J.C. Staff and Hiroki Uchida (Days of UrashimasakatasenGamers!) is supervising and writing the series scripts. Chikara Hashizume is designing the characters, Kentaro Izumi (A Certain Scientific Railgun T) is the art director, Mayumi Tanahashi is the color designer, Akihiro Takahashi is director of photography, Yoshikazu Iwanami is the audio director, Kou Otani is the music composer, and Lantis is the music producer.
