Netflix Unveils New Horror Anime, Exception, for 2022

While Netflix is focused on its live-action adaptations, it is also making time for original anime, and soon, a new horror anime named Exception will stream on the platform.

The streaming service announced during its Netflix Festival Japan 2021 live stream event on Tuesday that the new space horror anime, Exception, will debut on Netflix worldwide in 2022.

Exception appears to be a science fiction-horror series that has a startling key visual (below), thanks in no small part to the character designer from the Final Fantasy franchise, Yoshitaka Amano.

Yūzō Satō is set to direct and anime studios Bakken Record and 5 Inc are bringing it to life.

Exception revolves around a scientific crew leaving the Planet Earth in hopes of terraforming another world as their own planet faces a dire future. Of course, things don’t go as planned and if the image attached to the series is any indication, this is sure to be one of the creepiest anime series that will premiere next year.

Netflix has yet to reveal any footage from the series or announce a premiere date, however, more details will be unveiled soon.
