Made in Abyss Season 2 Announces July Premiere

The official website of the Made in Abyss series has revealed some details for the second season. Made in Abyss is based on a manga by Akihito Tsukushi. The manga started serialization in 2012 in Takeshobo’s Web Comic Gamma.

Latest Announcement

It has been revealed that the second season is titled The Golden City of the Scorching Sun. A new visual featuring the main trio from the series was unveiled as well– Riko, Reg, and Nanachi. The new visual also matches the first, which was revealed in November last year, along with a trailer. The anime will premiere this July.

Messages From Returning Cast

The second TV anime has been licensed by Sentai Filmworks. Kinema Citrus is animating the sequel to the highly popular anime series. With the main staff returning, the cast is also returning.

Cast members had some messages for fans.

Message from Miyu Tomita (Riko):

I believe that you will be able to see Riko and her friends grow up after the first season and the film. With more new characters, it has become more lively, and I am inspired by my seniors to perform in every episode. I am very excited and at the same time really looking forward to the new season! I hope you are all looking forward to it!

Message from Mariya Ise (Reg):

DDLC+ Coming Summer 2021

Finally, the adventure to the sixth layer of the Abyss, the Golden City, is about to begin! And I’m so excited! Reg and his friends have overcome many adversities in the past…only this time…I can’t predict how it will end. I will play my part with all my heart and sincerity!
