“Knights of Sidonia” Streams First Four Minutes of Film!

The official website for Knights of Sidonia, the mecha seinen action anime based on the original manga by Tsutomu Nihei, has posted a promo video featuring the first four minutes of the upcoming anime film- Sidonia no Kishi: Ai Tsumugu Hoshi (Knights of Sidonia: The Star Where Love is Spun).

Knights of Sidonia: The Star Where Love is Spun features a whole new original story and is supervised by the original author, Tsutomu Nihei. This story is set 10 years after the associated anime TV series and it is very satisfying to hear that it will feature returning characters and cast.

A LITTLE ABOUT THE FILM

This anime film will open in Japan on May 14 and serves as a conclusion to the series. The upcoming anime film is described thus:

A love that spanned 15 meters.
After a mysterious alien race called the Gauna destroyed Earth, the last remnants of mankind survived within a massive spaceship, the Sidonia, for 100 years. Now the Gauna have returned. Once again on the brink of extinction, a humanoid weapon born from a human and a Gauna, the Garde Tsumugi Shiraui, and ace pilot, Nagate Tanikaze, rose up and saved humanity in its darkest hour. 10 years have passed. The people aboard the Sidonia have enjoyed a peaceful respite. Even Tsumugi quietly passes the days with her thoughts dwelling on the ship’s hero, Nagate. However, Captain Kobayashi knew that true peace would not last so long as the Gauna were somewhere out there. And now, the fate of humanity rests on one climatic battle for survival. The Sidonia’s crew’s final mission to protect the ones dearest to their hearts has begun.

The four-minute video gives us an intriguing glimpse of what this mecha action will look like and we also get to see some of the new Garde pilots such as Kairi Hamagata and Iroha Hashine.
