Warner Bros. Japan drops a new trailer for Bubble, the new movie from Attack on Titan director Tetsuo Araki and Madoka Magica writer Gen Urobuchi.
Takeaways From the Trailer
The video previews Eve’s newly created opening theme song “Bubble feat. Uta.” The song launches on Thursday.
The trailer shows off more of Bubble‘s colorful take on a post-apocalyptic Tokyo and the gravity-twisting parkour at the center of its action. The Japanese singer/songwriter Eve has previously contributed music to the Jujutsu Kaisen and Josee, The Tiger, and The Fish soundtracks.
About the Anime
Netflix describes the anime:
The story is set in Tokyo, after bubbles that broke the laws of gravity rained down upon the world. Cut off from the outside world, Tokyo has become a playground for a group of young people who have lost their families, acting as a battlefield for parkour team battles as they leap from building to building.
Hibiki, a young ace known for his dangerous play style, makes a reckless move one day and plummets into the gravity-bending sea. His life is saved by Uta, a girl with mysterious powers. The pair then hear a unique sound audible only to them.
Why did Uta appear before Hibiki? Their encounter leads to a revelation that will change the world.
Production and Casting
Expectations are high as the film is being produced by a team that includes some of the biggest names in the anime industry.
The characters were designed by Takeshi Obata, who previously created the art for the Death Note and Platinum End manga. The movie is being produced at Wit Studio, the critically acclaimed animation company behind hits such as Vivy: Fluorite Eyes’ Song, Ranking of Kings, and the new Spy x Family anime adaptation.
The movie stars Jun Shison as its protagonist, Hibiki. Shison previously starred in the live-action adaptations of Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day and The Way of the Househusband.
