Adaptation for “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 6” is in the Works

It has been almost two years since the end of “Season 4” but acclaimed anime studio, David Production, announced they are currently working on “Season 5” and adapting the fifth part of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, titled Stone Ocean.

The announcement was made during a special event called JOESTAR The Inherited Soul, which celebrated the long-running anime and displayed new merchandise.

Including side content, David Production has produced 156 episodes spanning nine years, 343 background tracks, and is made up of over 2,000 staff members.

Stone Ocean

Fans of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure (including yours truly) have been eagerly awaiting the day when Stone Ocean will finally get its due. For those unfamiliar or who need a refresher, Stone Ocean follows Jolyne Cujoh, daughter of part 3’s protagonist Jotaro Kujo, having been framed for a murder she didn’t commit. She’s given the powerful Stand, Stone Free, and must use her powers to survive the deadly prison she’s in and somehow save her father’s life.

Manga readers will be familiar with just how crazy part 6 gets and insane Stands that’ll appear in this following season like Diver Down, Kiss, and Bohemian Rhapsody to name a few. I’m particularly interested in how they’re going to get around the fight with the Bohemian Rhapsody Stand and whether any censorship will be required.

Inherited Role

In that same event, the voice actress of Jolyne Cujoh was confirmed to be a relative newcomer, Ai Fairouz. Ai is a half-Japanese, half-Egyptian voice actress known for her role as Hibiki Sakura in the comedy series, How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?– a role that earned her an award in the “New Actress” category at the 14th Seiyu Awards.

Ai is ecstatic at this opportunity. She says that Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is the reason she wanted to become a voice actress and that she “was… speechless and… couldn’t stop crying.” Ai is a big fan of Stone Ocean and has been chasing this dream for 12 years.

She said in a quote,

“I love and admire Jolyne as a character and her beautiful, strong nature gave me strength especially during my student years, so I am grateful for the opportunity to voice Jolyne.”

Six Down, Two More to Go

With this confirmation, that just leaves two other story arcs left to be adapted- Steel Ball Run and JoJolion which is still ongoing in Ultra Jump. JoJolion shows no signs of stopping any time soon as there are still major plot threads to finish and prominent mysteries to solve.

Fans have speculated that there will be a part 9 but I say don’t hold your breath. The author, Hirohiko Araki, has slowed down in recent years, plus, he’s 60 years old. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has been running since 1987, over 30 years now. I personally have doubts about future installments but my motto is to never say never.

Are you a fan of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure like I am? If so, what’s your favorite part? I’d love to know!
